Emma Liu joined the firm in 2021 as an associate. She is part of the corporate and commercial team and is an expert advisor to public and private clients on complex ICT transactions.

She was previously a legal counsel at FUJIFILM. She negotiated ICT contracts with state and federal government agencies as well as with Amex, Citibank, Westpac, Alinta Energy, and Optus.

Eun Sil Choi started with Hicksons as a paralegal in 2017 and is part of the firm’s health practice. A former registered nurse practitioner, she has handled defendant insurance litigation and medico-legal matters.

She has played a role in consulting, researching, assessing, and reviewing the delivery of clinical services, the firm said. She has also tackled matters involving patient incident management in the healthcare sector.

Mark Quadrio commenced with Hicksons in 2019 as a solicitor. His experience encompasses health law, medical negligence, personal injury, insurance law, and dispute resolution.

He has advised local health districts and the Department of Communities and Justice. He has also appeared before the NSW District and Supreme Courts.

In addition, the firm elevated Valeria Baranovski to associate. She joined Hicksons as a solicitor in 2022 and is an expert in issues involving medical negligence, coronial inquests, and institutional abuse.

These promotions took effect on 1 January.

Recently, the firm also announced the appointment of Michelle MacMahon as a new health partner, along with that of Troy Gurnett as a partner and Liam Maguire as a senior associate.
