She takes the helm on 1 March as Nick Humphrey transitions to his new executive chairman role
Hamilton Locke has elevated deputy managing partner Brit Ibanez to managing partner.
She takes the helm on 1 March, succeeding Nick Humphrey.
“When I joined Hamilton Locke, I was genuinely excited to have the opportunity to be part of building a team and culture around a simple ethos: that if you support your people to thrive, they will deliver their best work. As we've grown and matured, that ethos is still at the heart of our culture, and underpins our success. I'm proud of how far we've come and look forward to leading Hamilton Locke as we look to this next growth phase”, Ibanez said.
Ibanez was appointed deputy managing partner in May 2025. She founded and led the firm’s commercial litigation and dispute resolution practice; moreover, she co-led the Sydney office.
She has headed up Hamilton Locke’s operational and risk committees and is on its executive committee. In 2024, she was named among Australasian Lawyer's Elite Women.
“Brit is an exceptional person, and leader. She has been part of our firm from the very early days, building the litigation practice from the ground up and leading change that has enhanced our firm culture and work environment. She is a true ambassador for us and deeply invested in Hamilton Locke’s success”, Humphrey said.
Humphrey will transition to the role of executive chairman once he hands over the reins. He confirmed that he would continue to collaborate with Ibanez and Hamilton Locke’s leadership.
Humphrey will also remain co-CEO of HPX Group with co-founder Hal Lloyd. Lloyd will become executive chairman of the HPX Group business Source.
