Hall & Wilcox bolsters European desk

Hall & Wilcox has strengthened its international expertise with the appointment of Dr Wolfgang Babeck as consultant and co-head of the firm’s European desk.

The seasoned lawyer was previously at recently shuttered DibbsBarker, where he served as European counsel from 2002. He is a partner at leading German firm Buse Heberer Fromm.

He will jointly lead the firm’s European desk with Oliver Jankowsky, the firm’s joint head of international.

Babeck is the current chairman of the International Section of the Law Council of Australia. He is also an honorary adjunct professor at Bond University and a facilitator of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He was previously chairman of the German-Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The new Hall & Wilcox consultant is a qualified solicitor in Germany, England and Wales, and New South Wales.

“Wolfgang’s appointment demonstrates a strong strategic alignment with our international practice – and in particular adds to the existing strength of our European desk and German practice,” said Tony Macvean, Hall & Wilcox managing partner.

The appointment comes after Hall & Wilcox recruited a 20-strong team from DibbsBarker in Brisbane. The firm also recently appointed a new partner from Holding Redlich.
