She is the firm's international head of dispute resolution
Global firm Simmons & Simmons has elected international head of dispute resolution Emily Monastiriotis as its new managing partner.
Monastiriotis steps into the role on May 1, taking the place of Jeremy Hoyland. Hoyland had been in the position since 2011.

Monastiriotis is part of Simmons’ international executive committee. She led initiatives to integrate technology into the firm’s legal practice and adopt artificial intelligence. She is also the partner lead of the firm’s mentoring programme.
She specializes in construction disputes and professional indemnity claims. She is also an expert on fire safety cases and led the first fire dedicated fire safety team established at a law firm, which has tackled large cladding portfolios.
Monastiriotis has taken on construction and engineering disputes. She has also pursued and defended claims for delay and associated costs, final accounts, fees and defective works.
She has worked on international arbitrations, court proceedings and adjudications. She has handled arbitrations involving large infrastructure and energy projects.
Monastiriotis relocated to the UK from Greece and commenced her legal career in 2000 after receiving her degree from Durham University. She started with Simmons as a partner in 2017.
She was the firm’s UK head of dispute resolution before being elected international practice group head of dispute resolution in 2022. She is is based in the London office.
