Gibson Dunn scores two Mayer Brown London practice heads
Gibson Dunn has hired the two senior partners from Mayer Brown in London.

The US giant appointed Jeremy Kenley and Sandy Bhogal as partners. Kenley is currently global co-head of Mayer Brown’s corporate and securities group and global head of private equity real estate. Bhogal currently leads Mayer Brown’s London tax team.

“Building out our transactional practice in London has been a strategic priority for the firm, and the office has developed a broad capability in public and private M&A, private equity, equity capital markets, real estate, and finance,” said Ken Doran, Gibson Dunn chair and managing partner. “Jeremy and Sandy are both highly regarded in their respective areas, and with their addition, we are even better positioned to serve our clients.”

Kenley focuses his practice on real-estate backed transactions, including cross-border M&A and joint ventures. He has particular expertise in real estate private equity, including the formation of real estate private equity and debt funds, related real estate and debt acquisitions, and co-investment deals and structures.

He has been a Mayer Brown partner since he moved from Apollo Management, where he was general counsel at the company’s global real estate arm. He was also Citi Property Investors’ European general counsel.

Bhogal is an expert in corporate tax, including transaction mandates controversies with tax authorities and other discrete tax-consulting matters. He also focuses on front-end advice in M&A, corporate finance, banking, capital markets, asset finance, and property. He is also a specialist in corporate tax planning and the development of domestic and cross-border tax-efficient structures.

He has been a Mayer Brown partner since 2007, when he moved from EY, where he was manager. He was also an associate at Norton Rose Fulbright.
