Ex-Black Solicitors’ Network chair Paulette Mastin has been awarded the Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) as part of this year's King’s Birthday Honours list, reported the Law Society Gazette.
Mastin obtained the accolade for her services to diversity in legal services. She led the network for five years.
At present, she is a London-based partner at global firm Reed Smith, focusing on capital markets. She also recorded a 26-year stint with Linklaters.
UK Legal Aid Agency chief executive Jane Harbottle was also named a CBE for her public service.
Suffolk Law Centre founder Audrey Ludwig received the Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) distinction for services to legal aid in Suffolk. Ludwig had retired in November 2024.
"This recognition reflects the efforts of a remarkable team at SLC, my former colleagues at Ipswich & Suffolk Council for Racial Equality and the support of a wider community who have shared in the vision and helped make it a reality. I accept it on their behalf as well as my own," Ludwig said in an online post published by the Gazette.
UK Crown Prosecution Service specialist prosecutor Hannah Sidaway was named an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE). UK Department for Transport senior lawyer Piers Le Marquand was given the OBE distinction for services to the legal profession.
CPS paralegal Parimalkumar Patel was also awarded an MBE for services to law and order, as was casework administration manager Elizabeth Swift.
Deka Chambers' personal injury team head and barrister Adam Dawson was recognized as an MBE for services to charity and to the Jewish community.
The 2025 King’s Birthday Honours list awardees include former professional footballer David Beckham and actor Gary Oldman.
