Both have played instrumental roles in ACT Bar committees
College of Law adjunct lecturer Danny Moujalli and ACT Bar Council member Peter Woulfe have been named ACT senior counsel.
ACT Bar Association president Prue Bindon made the announcement today. Both appointees, she said in a media release, “have established outstanding professional reputations and demonstrate the experience, expertise and qualities expected of senior counsel”.
Moujalli has tackled matters involving commercial, equity and trusts, wills and estates, building and construction, professional liability, professional discipline, and corporations. He has appeared before federal, ACT and NSW courts and tribunals in first instance and appellate matters.
He works with NCAT part time and has provided pro bono representation. He was among the first members of the ACT Bar’s disciplinary committee as it was launched in 2024.
Moujalli is a mentor to junior lawyers and presents legal practice and ethics seminars. He was called to the ACT bar in 2007.
At present, he is a barrister with Wentworth Chambers.
Meanwhile, Woulfe is a renowned Commonwealth compensation barrister who has handled constitutional and administrative law, civil appeals, professional liability, medical negligence, workers compensation, and employment, work health and safety. He presently chairs the Law Council of Australia’s federal dispute resolution section, administrative review tribunal liaison committee and Commonwealth compensation and employment law committee.
At one point, he was chair of the federal administrative law reform working group. He also co-chairs the bar’s public law committee
Woulfe was on the ACT Bar Council from 2014 to 2021. He was re-elected to the council recently.
He was called to the bar in 2012 and is currently a barrister with Blackburn Chambers. He logged stints at Sparke Helmore and Porters as a lawyer, according to LinkedIn.
Woulfe went on to become a partner at DibbsBarker and was a captain in the Australian army. He has tackled matters involving constitutional and administrative law, civil appeals, professional liability claims, medical negligence claims, contractual disputes, Australian Consumer Law disputes, workers compensation disputes, motor vehicle negligence disputes (including the ACT statutory defined benefits scheme), dust disease disputes, building disputes, compulsory acquisition of property claims, employment law, work health safety law, disciplinary proceedings, discrimination disputes, and health and medical law.
Previous ACT senior counsel include Margaret Jones and Rebecca Christensen, who were appointed in 2021. Last year, Gavin Howard was named to the role.
