Danny King Legal promotes new partner, associate

Danny King Legal (DKL) has welcomed a new partner and a new associate to its ranks with the promotions of special counsel Sonia Chandra and solicitor Savanna Russo.

“As the next generation of the firm’s leaders, Sonia’s litigation experience, people-first approach to client circumstances, and mentoring are essential to our growth. Savanna’s knowledge of the firm and its client base, combined with legal expertise puts her in good stead to take on this more senior role,” principal Danny King said.

Chandra joined DKL only a year ago fresh from a stint leading the legal department at the Australian and International Pilots Association. Previously, she was also a legal counsel at Hays Recruitment Specialists, working with both the Australian and New Zealand markets.

Her rapid rise to partner level is “a testament to her wealth of experience and central role as part of the senior management team,” DKL said.

Meanwhile, Russo has been with the employment law specialist firm for six years, taking on a variety of roles including paralegal, head paralegal, senior analyst and graduate. She focuses on DKL’s contracts process, and has provided support in Federal Court, Federal Circuit Court, and Supreme Court litigation.

She is also an expert in handling Fair Work Commission applications.

DKL was among the Excellence Awardees at the recently concluded Australasian Law Awards, becoming a finalist in the Employment Law Specialist Firm of the Year and Diversity Initiative of the Year categories.
