Clyde & Co scores partner from Sparke Helmore

New partner reunites with the firm after 17 years

Clyde & Co scores partner from Sparke Helmore
Clyde & Co has appointed Jonathan Wyatt as partner in its insurance practice in Perth.

The new partner joins the global law firm from insurance specialist firm Sparke Helmore. Joining his transfer are special counsel Paul Graham, and senior associates Trent O'Neill and Alen Sinanovic.
Wyatt has particular expertise in professional indemnity, directors’ and officers’ (D&O) liability, general liability, and marine insurance. His clients include national and international insurers and brokers, ship owners, charterers, exporters, and freight forwarders.

He has also represented clients in litigation in the Federal Court of Australia and the Supreme Court of Western Australia.

Wyatt is returning to the Clyde & Co fold after 17 years. He started his career at Holman Fenwick Willan in Hong Kong in 1996, before moving to Clyde & Co in 1998. He joined Phillips Fox in 2000, and made partner in 2003.

He left when the firm was already DLA Phillips Fox in 2008 to join Sparke Helmore, before joining Jarman McKenna in 2012. Sparke Helmore and Jarman McKenna’s merger went live last March.
Wyatt said Clyde & Co matches his practice areas coherently.  He is familiar with the firm’s culture and ethos, having spent formative years at the firm in Hong Kong.

Last month, Clyde & Co promoted one of its Australian lawyers to the global partnership. Insurance specialist Tim Searle, who is also based in Perth, became partner on 1 May. In January, the firm added three senior lawyers in the insurance and property practice groups in Australia.
