AMINZ welcomes new executive director

The Arbitrators' and Mediators' Institute of New Zealand (AMINZ) - Te Mana Kaiwhakatau, Takawaenga o Aotearoa has welcomed Monique Pearson as its new executive director.

AMINZ President Nicole Smith highlighted Pearson’s leadership experience, which includes serving as an executive director at the New Zealand Bar Association.

“Monique is well known in the professional services community. It is Monique’s leadership experience within education, technology and professional services firms and her depth of knowledge of membership organisations, including her role as Executive Director at the New Zealand Bar Association, that made her the right candidate”, Smith said.

Pearson also gleaned business development experience at EY and PwC. In her role with AMINZ, she will heighten AMINZ's visibility and membership growth. She shared her intent to engage with members and stakeholders, as well as bolster ties with similar organisations both domestically and internationally. She also plans to promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, given her involvement with Global Women and Amotai.

“My primary goals are to ensure that we continue to provide value to our members and the wider community, enhancing their roles as dispute resolvers, and to build on our position as the leading voice on dispute resolution in Aotearoa New Zealand”, Pearson said.

Smith expressed the council’s support of Pearson’s vision for AMINZ.

“We're looking forward to this new chapter under Monique's leadership and encourage our members and the wider dispute resolution community to join us in welcoming her and getting involved with our future initiatives”, Smith said.

The council acknowledged Barry Jordan’s interim leadership tenure as acting GM, which ran from October 2023 to January 2024.
