The appointment comes shortly after the firm commemorated its milestone 10th anniversary
Alex Vulkanovski has been announced as Law Squared’s new head of legal operations and innovation.
In the role, he will develop systems, workflows and AI infrastructure. According to the firm, the appointment highlights Law Squared’s investment in legal operations and AI as core enablers of business.
“The profession is only focused on part of the equation. It’s not just about what happens to billing when AI makes lawyers faster, it’s also about how the work itself changes and where lawyers add value. My focus is on building the systems to enable that shift, without sacrificing our human-centred ethos”, Vulkanovski said.
Before the move to Law Squared, Vulkanovski was the senior manager – legal operations at Johnson & Johnson. He also led the legal operations at global HR platform Remote.
Per LinkedIn, he was with KPMG Australia from May 2021 to September 2023. He was senior manager – legal operations and delivery at the Big 4 firm. Moreover, he was the legal transformation manager at Gilbert + Tobin, where he built, advocated for and provided solutions to lawyers and clients. He concentrated on legal technology, process improvement, data-driven decision-making and the application of service design principles.
“AI is an accelerator, but acceleration without direction just gets you lost faster. We’re investing in the foundations of clear processes, structured data and well-designed workflows, alongside upskilling our people”, said Law Squared CEO Claire Sundin.
Recently, the firm commemorated its 10th anniversary in the profession.
“Other firms are asking how to protect revenue as AI improves. We’ve been asking a different question for ten years: how do we deliver better legal work? Because we don’t work on time-based billing, we can focus entirely on improving quality and client experience”, Sundin said.
Sundin took the helm as Law Squared's CEO in January.
