This is the biggest group elevated at the firm in three years
Ten have made partner at Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer (HSF Kramer) Australia in the firm’s latest promotions round – the largest cohort elevated in three years.
The appointments take effect on 1 May and strengthen the firm’s disputes, M&A, energy and infrastructure, IP, real estate, and industrial relations offerings across Sydney and Melbourne. The new partners are as follows:
Adams has worked with the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Colonial First State and Origin Energy Limited. She has appeared before the Federal Court and the Victorian Supreme Court.
Beaman concentrates on employment and industrial relations-related litigation. She has been involved in proceedings relating to restraints of trade, general protections, unfair dismissal, disputes resolution procedures, unprotected industrial action and good faith bargaining.
Dougherty advised AGL Energy and Idemitsu Australia on the joint venture 500MW Muswellbrook Pumped Hydro Energy Storage project. He also guided Defence Housing Australia on large-scale mixed-use redevelopments.
Eglezos assisted the state of Victoria in defending class actions for alleged economic loss arising from hotel quarantine and COVID-19 restrictions in the state. He also helped Mercedes-Benz defend in product liability class action proceedings relating to diesel emissions.
Kirby has tackled matters involving the delivery of and investment in clean energy, water and waste projects. She has guided governments and market bodies on significant Australia and UK energy market reforms.
Repse assisted Melbourne Airport on its US$4bn EMTN programme and multiple note issues. She also advised ISPT Pty Ltd on its restructure of $2.8bn in bank facilities to sustainability linked loan facilities for the ISPT Core Fund.
Robertson was involved in the sale of 39 Martin Place above the under-development Martin Place metro station. He also worked on Rye Park Wind Farm’s acquisition and development.
Vandervliet has tackled matters involving patents, trade marks, copyright, designs, confidential information and passing off. She has advised on issues related to standard essential patents and FRAND licensing.
Bailee Walker has guided governments, regulators, major energy market participants and private capital clients on the legal frameworks underpinning energy markets in Australia and the regulatory shifts in process due to the energy transition. She has worked on matters involving reform initiatives, regulatory strategy, and first-of-kind energy projects.
Simon Walker advised Hutchison Australia in relation to its proposed acquisition by CK Hutchison through a takeover bid. He also guided Crown Resorts when it was acquired by Blackstone via scheme of arrangement.
HSF Kramer’s executive partner for Australia and Asia, Kristin Stammer, highlighted the additions to the disputes partnership.
“Demand for our first-class litigation advice, including continued growth in securities and consumer class actions, and the increase in employment and cyber related class actions, has also supported the addition of three partners to our disputes practice”, she said. “We have a number of promotions in projects, energy and infrastructure, including energy markets and regulation. This reflects our ongoing strength and depth in Australia and globally”.
In total, HSF Kramer elevated 25 to partner across its global offices.
