Joanna Khoo is a corporate and commercial lawyer who specialises in financial services. She started her career at Russell McVeagh and was promoted to special counsel at the end of 2018. To gain a deeper understanding of business drivers and broaden her exposure to the financial services industry, Khoo made the move into an in-house environment. In September 2019, she commenced as head of legal and regulatory and company secretary of Chubb Insurance New Zealand. In a very short span of time, she has built successful relationships with key stakeholders both internally and externally and has been involved in driving key projects for the business. This includes working with the executive team to enable Chubb to navigate the complex and changing regulatory environment facing the insurance industry and liaising with the board to drive best practice in corporate governance. In 2019, she was recognised as a rising star and next generation lawyer in The Legal 500.
