Buddle Findlay
Employer of Choice 2020

Buddle Findlay is a commercial and public law firm that puts culture as its core strength and focus, and empowers its people to be extraordinary.

The firm runs an internal professional development programme targeting a variety of roles and levels throughout the business. It also encourages attendance at conferences, seminars, and events. It is now doing some preliminary work on the possible rollout of a learning management system to further enable access and variety in learning.

Buddle Findlay is undergoing a progressive digital transformation project. Not only is it providing its people laptops to simplify working flexibly and remotely, the firm is also overhauling all its communications infrastructure; assessing systems and mobile solutions against their ability to enable collaboration; and overhauling the firm’s intranet. The firm also plans to launch a cloud-based site, with mobile access, to improve collaboration amongst/between offices.

Buddle Findlay has a strong emphasis on diversity and inclusion, as reflected by its having a national D&I committee, local office committees, and with D&I a key part of the firm’s recruitment strategy. Last year, the firm received the Rainbow Tick.

With COVID-19 changing the way people work, Buddle Findlay has developed a new Flexible Work and Lifestyle leave package that provides its people with options to support them to manage their working hours. The package, which is available through to the end of 2020, is broken into two elements: the first is to opt for a temporary change to hours (shorter days, flexible start and finish times, shorter weeks, 9-day fortnights, working during school terms only, etc.) and the second is to purchase additional leave, which gives people the ability to purchase (by way of salary deduction) up to four weeks' lifestyle leave to use prior to March 01, 2021.

Buddle Findlay offers competitive renumeration plus bonuses for outstanding performance. The firm also provides recognition through prezzy cards, restaurant vouchers, and care packages.  Promotions happen on an annual basis and these are acknowledged in relevant internal and external publications.
