Returning alumna has experience in major infrastructure projects
Simpson Grierson has announced that alumna Lisa Curran has returned and accepted a promotion as an Auckland-based partner in the New Zealand commercial law firm’s national construction law practice.
Curran, a construction lawyer, has significant experience in major infrastructure projects, according to Simpson Grierson’s media release. In New Zealand, she has handled projects such as Te Kaha Stadium in Canterbury and the Spark Arena, City Rail Link, and Britomart Precinct in Auckland.
Phillipa Muir, partner and board chair of the firm, welcomed Curran back to the firm.
“Her deep sector experience, proven track record on transformational infrastructure projects, and passion for delivering outcomes that benefit New Zealand communities make her an invaluable addition to our team,” Muir said in the firm’s media release.
“I'm excited to return to Simpson Grierson,” Curran added. “It was the people who drew me back as an alumna, and it’s great to be back in the Construction team working with our fantastic clients.”
Simpson Grierson’s media release noted that it is welcoming back Curran at a pivotal and optimistic period for the country’s infrastructure sector, with the government announcing the procurement of two private public partnerships (PPPs) this year, among other significant infrastructure investments.
“Large infrastructure takes time, but we are now starting to get momentum and action, which is creating impetus and generating international interest - so it's an exciting time to be a Construction Partner at a top law firm in New Zealand,” Curran said in the media release.
Curran said the firm can capitalise on the country’s recent momentum and time of transformation.
“I'm looking forward to getting stuck in,” Curran said in the firm’s media release. “At every level, it's important to deliver projects successfully and sustainably - it's an important part of the journey.”
“I'm excited about the contribution Lisa will make as we help shape the future of infrastructure in this country,” Muir added.
