Buddle Findlay welcomes new partner in Auckland

Buddle Findlay has appointed Paula Ormandy as a new partner for its property and construction teams in Auckland.

Ormandy brings nearly two decades of experience in major projects. She has tackled matters related to leasing, property development, high-value portfolio acquisitions, and disposals; moreover, she has guided large global corporates on entering the New Zealand market.

She is an expert in property, construction and projects, infrastructure, banking and financial services, transport, airports and ports, property finance, and project and infrastructure financing/public-private partnerships, as well as local government issues.

According to Buddle Findlay, Ormandy has been recognised as an authority in the build to rent and alternative housing markets. Buddle Findlay’s national chair, Jennifer Caldwell, highlighted Ormandy’s active involvement with the Property Council, where she chaired the Residential Development Summit for three straight years, as well as Ormandy’s membership in the Ministerial Reference Group for Housing.

Ormandy previously advised Kiwi Property on its first build-to-rent project at Sylvia Park and represented Fisher & Paykel Appliances on several matters, including the acquisition and development of its new global headquarters in Penrose, its first New Zealand Experience Centre, and the leasing of several new distribution centres.

She also represented Pernod Richard on the $55m sale of its Tamaki industrial site; in addition, she advised the Department of Conservation on the development and implementation of its housing policy. She also guided ANZ Bank on its retail and office leasing portfolio, as well as Google on its New Zealand leasing and development arrangements.

Prior to joining Buddle Findlay. Ormandy was a real estate partner at Dentons Kensington Swan.
