Christchurch commercial and civil litigation firm, Young Hunter, have relocated to its new permanent premises on Victoria Street
Christchurch firm Young Hunter staff have finally settled into thier new premises in the inner city, two and a half years after being displaced by the February 2011 earthquake.
The firm’s previous location was the historically-rated Public Trust building on Oxford Terrace, which suffered damage in the quakes – that building’s future is still being debated.
Up until the move, Young Hunter was operating from two temporary locations in Addington and St Albans. While the firm says this was “initially satisfactory” in the immediate post-earthquake environment, the locations and the separation of the firm caused a significant degree of inconvenience and dislocation.
The new premises occupy the top floor of Young Hunter House at 134 Victoria Street and provide a combination of open plan and traditional offices. The three storey building is an award winning design by Christchurch architects, Sheppard & Rout.
On Friday, NZ Lawyer reported that Victoria Street has developed into a hub for a number of legal and accounting firms.
A Young Hunter spokesperson says it’s “a great location”.
“Construction continues all along the street – but the activity only enhances the firm’s relief and pleasure in being ‘back to normal’ at last.”
