Top firms look to celebrate the best of the in-house market

2022 NZ Law Awards sponsors Lane Neave and Russell McVeagh are seeking the leading in-house lawyers and legal teams

Top firms look to celebrate the best of the in-house market

Two of New Zealand’s leading firms are looking to celebrate the best in the country’s in-house legal market at the upcoming 2022 New Zealand Law Awards.

“I’m sure we will be thoroughly impressed by the calibre of nominees for [In-house Lawyer of the Year] category; in-house lawyers consistently demonstrate their depth of knowledge and appreciation of the rhythms and drivers of the organisations they serve, combined of course with their legal acumen,” Lane Neave CEO Peter Dwan said. “We look forward to seeing who rises to the top in 2022!”

Russell McVeagh CEO Jo Avenell pointed to the critical role in-house legal teams have played in shaping the country’s legal and business landscapes.

“In-house legal teams are helping to drive key initiatives and managing risk which is critical to their organisation’s success,” Avenell said. “The awards provide an opportunity to learn more about how these leading teams are contributing to shaping Kiwi organisations as well as Aotearoa’s legal and business landscape more broadly, and recognising them for these significant efforts.”

The annual New Zealand Law Awards continues to celebrate the law firms, in-house teams, individuals and dealmakers with spectacular achievements over the past 12 months. The winners across 25 different categories will be crowned at a gala to be held at the Cordis Auckland on 10 November.

That the awards are set for a return to the stage after two years of being digital is the cherry on top.

“After a couple of years of disruption and having to take events online, it is great to be able to look forward to the prospect of celebrating in person with colleagues and peers from around New Zealand at this year’s awards,” Dwan said.

Added Avenell, “We have missed being able to be in person to celebrate excellence in our profession with our clients, colleagues and peers so we’re really looking forward to being able to return to this upbeat setting to reconnect at this year’s awards.”

The floor for nominations for the New Zealand Law Awards opened on 23 May, with the window closing this Friday. Excellence awardees will be announced on the NZ Lawyer website and online channels.

Those looking to submit a nomination may do so here. Further details on the nominations process and criteria can be found on the New Zealand Law Awards webpage.

The 2022 New Zealand Law Awards are also being sponsored by James & Wells and the Resolution Institute.
