A current team leader at Crown Law, she has worked in various capacities inside the government’s legal office for nearly 14 years
Simpson Grierson has appointed senior lawyer Sally McKechnie as the newest partner in its public law team.
McKechnie comes from Crown Law, where she is currently team leader. She has worked in various capacities at Crown Law, beginning her career there as assistant crown counsel in 2003. Before moving to the organisation, she was a law tutor at the University of Oxford. She began her career as a solicitor at Kensington Swan.
McKechnie, who has extensive experience in the central government environment, will be based in Simpson Grierson’s Wellington office starting 1 June. She will focus on assisting the firm's public sector-facing clients with strategic, regulatory and policy-related issues, the firm said.
The news comes after Simpson Grierson appointed five new senior associates and a new senior litigation advisor in March. The firm promoted Dominic Toomey, appointed Kate Strevens and Tom Heard, and welcomed back Nina Blomfield, Meredith Webb, and Genevieve Cox. It also appointed Fiona Carney as senior consultant in February.
