The top women in NZ’s legal profession for 2023

This year’s Elite Women not only excelled in diverse areas of law and carved out unique career paths, their dedication to uplifting others and advocating for worthwhile causes has inspired colleagues and created new benchmarks.

Hudson Gavin Martin partner Anchali Anandanayagam is world-renowned for her TMT work, but is also an advocate for mission-oriented business models. Lane Neave’s Anna Ryan not only leads the firm’s national competition and consumer law practice, she is also a pioneer in the field of cartel law in New Zealand.

Meanwhile, Ryan’s fellow partner at Lane Neave, Fiona McMillan, is focused on bringing up the next generation of lawyers, heading up the firm’s summer clerk and graduate recruitment programs. Black Door Law director and principal lawyer Caroline Rieger is a staunch supporter of paid parental leave policies.
