The COVID-19 pandemic transformed the traditional-minded legal profession into one that came to appreciate the role of automation and digitalisation in enabling its continued operation. From supporting service delivery in law firms and organisations to ensuring that court proceedings kept going, legal service providers became key to the industry.

Some providers expanded on their existing offerings, capitalising on the increased use of Microsoft apps and communications platforms like Zoom. In some cases, lawyers and law firms themselves took their understanding of what people in the profession needed and set about meeting those needs themselves.  

Products and services that have become available to the profession in recent years range from document automation software to recruitment.
