Simpson Grierson has raised thousands as part of an international campaign to support the Cerebral Palsy Foundation.

For this year’s STEPtember campaign, which challenges participants to take 10,000 steps every day for 28 days, the firm raised more than $9,000 thanks to its partners, staff, and supporters.

Simpson Grierson was the 11th-ranked company for fundraising in New Zealand and the only law firm in the top 40 companies that participated in the country. It achieved the feat although it only had 14 teams participating, when most of those in the top 10 had more than 30 teams each.

Collectively, the teams participating in the campaign took 17,889,875 steps.

“We're so pleased with the results, and really proud of everyone who stepped up to the challenge. It's great to do something that improves our health while raising money for an important cause,” said Sarah Bulkeley, the firm’s organisational development human resources advisor and the head of the firm’s wellness program.

“STEPtember has become a big event in our annual wellness programme,” she said. “The average office worker only does around 3,000 steps a day, so it is a good way for our staff to get away from their desks and move. 10,000 steps a day is hard. Getting out and connecting with nature is good for our mental health, so it's a campaign that ticks all the boxes for us.”
