Rice Speir welcomes two new associates

Auckland-based firm Rice Speir has added two new associates to its roster, reported the New Zealand Law Society.

Jade Magrath was elevated to the position, while Sarah Farnell joins as a fresh face.

Magrath has been with Rice Speir since 2020. Prior to joining the firm, she was with Meredith Conell as a solicitor for more than a year.

Magrath specialises in resource management and regulatory compliance and enforcement, with a particular focus on plan reviews, resource consenting, and regulatory prosecutions under the Resource Management Act 1991 and the Building Act 2004. She is well-versed in a broad range of local government matters, including bylaw interpretation and processes, development contributions, and official information requests.

Farnell recently joined the firm from Meredith Connell, where she held solicitor and senior solicitor positions for over five years. She has extensive expertise in civil litigation and dispute resolution, insolvency, recoveries and enforcement, and regulatory compliance and enforcement.

She has advised clients across private, commercial and government sectors on a wide range of litigation matters. Her practice includes bringing claims against directors, bankrupts, and related parties utilising suite of remedies available under the Companies Act 1993, Property Law Act 2007 and the Insolvency Act 2006.

Farnell has appeared as lead counsel before the High Court and District Court.
