Permanent judge to become acting judge of the Employment Court

Judge Mark Eversfield Perkins will become an acting judge of the Employment Court.

Perkins will be a permanent judge of the court until 27 December. On 28 December, he will be issued a 12-month warrant as an acting judge. He became a permanent judge in March 2013.

Earlier this month, Wellington barrister and solicitor Joanna Holden was appointed as a judge of the Employment Court. Judge Christina Inglis was appointed the chief judge of the court in June.

She succeeded former Chief Judge Graeme Colgan, who stepped down from the court’s top post in July, ending his esteemed career in the court, which began in 1989 when it was still called the Labour Court.

Correction: An earlier version of the story said that Judge Perkins retired from the Employment Court bench this month.
