New partner Lynne Van lifts Lane Neave's litigation team in Auckland

Lynne Van is the newest partner on Lane Neave’s dispute resolution and litigation team in Auckland.

The commercial litigator focuses on banking, insolvency and restructuring, and property-related litigation. She has tackled matters involving securities enforcement, governance issues, recoveries, shareholder disputes, body corporate matters and insurance.

Van has a particular interest in product liability issues in the automotive sector. She has worked on matters related to the Consumer Guarantees Act and Fair Trading Act. She has advised insolvency practitioners, lenders, corporate and private clients, both local and global.

She has alternative dispute resolution experience, having guided clients in mediation and arbitrations. She appeared before the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, Māori Appellate Court, Māori Land Court and High Court.

Van is part of RITANZ and INSOL International. She is also on the Women in Restructuring and Insolvency (Auckland) steering committee, as well as on the New Zealand Asian Lawyers and Auckland Community Law Centre boards.

New special counsel

Lane Neave also added to its roster of special counsels with Nicola Cuervo, Amelia Simpson and Tanya Lavan.

Cuervo works from Christchurch, concentrating on employment, health law, privacy law and dispute resolution. She has expertise in matters involving disciplinary processes, employment investigations, restructuring, personal grievances and alternative dispute resolution.

In particular, she has assisted health providers facing legal issues related to consent of treatment, competency issues, managing complaints and adverse events, and Coronial Inquiries.

Simpson is also based in Christchurch and focuses on complex property transactions, especially large subdivisions. She has worked with commercial and private clients on land and building transactions.

She has tackled structuring business entities, business sales and purchases, financing (acting for both lenders and borrowers), manufacturing and distribution agreements, and business and trade contracts.

Lavan operates from Wellington and is a specialist in family law. She concentrates on parenting and property issues.

She has tackled spend-time arrangements, relocations, family violence, property settlements, pre-nuptial and post-nuptial property contract agreements, intergenerational wealth transfer and settlements. She has also been involved in dispute resolution such as lawyer-to-lawyer negotiation, mediation, roundtable conferences, litigation and collaborative law.
