Movers and shakers: July promotions

There has been a raft of appointments and promotions in the New Zealand-based practice of an international law firm.

Eight people have been promoted at DLA Piper New Zealand, the firm’s chairman Martin Wiseman has announced.

Nicole MacFarlane has been appointed Special Counsel in the firm’s financial services team.

“Nicole has significant experience advising clients in the financial services and funds management sector,” Wiseman said in his announcement.

“In recent times, she has been extensively involved in advising clients on compliance with, and the implementation of, the Financial Markets Conduct Act.

“In addition to her experience in private practice, Nicole has spent a number of years in a range of senior in-house roles.”

Promoted to role of senior associate were Tom Barnes (financial services), Aimee Credin (healthcare), Pavanie Edirisuriya (corporate), Erin Vercoe (corporate) and Megan Yardley (resource management).

Appointed to the role of senior solicitor were Nick Chapman (litigation) and Samuel Wilson (corporate).

“All of these individuals have performed at an exceptionally high level and were well deserving of promotion this year.  We look forward to building upon this success in the coming year,” Wiseman said.

The appointments were effective as of July 1.
