MinterEllisonRuddWatts has appointed Sarah Thirlwall as chief digital officer.

The firm’s new digital chief, who commences her new role today, was chosen from an outstanding field after a competitive selection process, CEO Mike Schubert said.

“Sarah is an exceptional leader with a deep understanding of how technology can help deliver excellent service to our clients,” he said. “She is very talented and known for her ability to translate technical speak into plain English, while foreseeing opportunities in the IT space. This is important as the firm continues to evolve and lead the legal profession on the technology front.”

Thirlwall is the former director for strategic ICT transformation at Counties Manukau District Health Board. She said she was “pleased and excited to lead the digital advancement of this excellent firm.”

She said the firm’s culture, ambition and clearly articulated strategy impressed her.

“The team is committed to placing its clients at the absolute centre of everything they do, and this aligns with my values and experiences,” she said.

Thirlwall was previously manager of strategic IT projects for South Auckland Health and project director for Health Alliance Limited.
