MinterEllisonRuddWatts welcomes its newest partner, Tom Maasland, who will join the firm in February 2017.
Maasland, a respected Technology, Media and Telecommunication (TMT) lawyer, is an experienced technology and general commercial lawyer. He will join the firm’s Corporate team based in Auckland on 1 February 2017 as a Partner once the NZ Law Society requirements have been completed.
He advises on business-critical technology contracts, including outsourcing and managed services, “as a service” arrangements, software licensing and commercialisation, and systems development agreements (including agile development).
He has more than one-and-a-half decades of experience in New Zealad and the United Kingdom
The veteran, ranked by Chambers & Partners as a leading lawyer, also advises on emerging technologies such as blockchain and smart contracts.
Most recently, Tom has lead the Auckland Information, Communications and Technology team at Russell McVeagh which he joined in 2013. Prior to that, he was Assistant General Counsel at Spark. He also has international experience having worked for O2 in the UK and in private practice for leading London TMT firms.
