Mayer Brown looks to London for its next leader

Mayer Brown has looked to London for its next managing partner.

The Chicago, Illinois-headquartered firm has picked Jeremy Clay to succeed Kenneth S. Geller, who is stepping down from the post he has held since 2009.

Paul W. Theiss, Mayer Brown chairman, said Clay’s broad experience in the firm brought a positive dynamic perspective. He said the whole firm appreciated and recognized the “countless contributions” of Geller.

“We’ve all come to rely on Ken’s steady and thoughtful counsel, which fortunately will continue, and the firm has been well-served by his dedicated years of service as managing partner,” he said.

Clay has been on the firm’s management committee since 2012. He is a real estate and finance expert, who acts for investors, developers and corporate clients in a wide array of structured developments, investments, and joint-venture transactions.

Clay will split his time between New York and London, Mayer Brown said. Geller will continue his practice at the firm.

Mayer Brown has more than 1,500 lawyers working out of 23 offices around the world.
