Her experience spans relationship property, childcare, and family discord matters
Martelli McKegg Lawyers has announced that it has brought in Surendra Bennett as a litigation partner in its family law team
Bennett commences with the firm on 1 May. She focuses on family law matters and has tackled trust and estate disputes.
She has handled issues related to relationship property division after separation, custody, and spousal maintenance payments. She has also dealt with matters involving family violence and childcare arrangements and represented clients before the Family Court and High Court.
Bennett has handled claims against trusts, contracting-out or pre-nuptial agreements, custody issues, urgent protection orders, welfare guardianship, and powers of attorney.
She was appointed a member of the ADLS Family Law Committee and the Family Courts Association. She is also part of the New Zealand Law Society’s family law section and the Auckland Women Lawyers’ Association.
She obtained her LLB and BCom degrees from the University of Otago in 2011 and was admitted to practice that same year.
“Grateful for the trust and support of my colleagues, mentors, and clients over the years,” Bennett said in a LinkedIn update. “Excited for what lies ahead!”
