Seasoned litigator Alicia Murray has joined corporate and commercial firm Lowndes Jordan as its newest litigation partner.

She takes the place of Liz Gellert, who was recently sworn in as an associate judge of the High Court. Murray specialises in competition and insolvency law.

Murray has practised as a commercial litigator for more than 20 years. She has worked with domestic and multinational businesses, tackling contract disputes, anti-competitive conduct, insolvency issues, director’s duties claims, merger clearances and financial markets investigations.

“Alicia is a highly experienced, deeply respected litigator whose expertise reinforces our ability to offer clients specialist legal advice backed by commercial awareness. Clients always have direct access to specialised partners, who are in turn supported by senior practitioners with a shared understanding of their business imperatives”, Lowndes Jordan litigation partner Karl Stolberger said. “Adding Alicia to that team means we’re even better equipped to deliver the kind of tailored, technically sound advice our clients rely on”.

Before making the jump to Lowndes Jordan, Murray was a partner at Matthews Law in Auckland and at DLA Piper, where she spent seven years. She was president of the Auckland Women Lawyers Association from November 2013 to December 2019, according to LinkedIn.

She also logged stints with Simpson Grierson and Hesketh Henry.

At Lowndes Jordan, Murray joins a partnership that also includes corporate and commercial partners Mike Busch, Sarah Kerr, Duncan Coats and Rick Shera.
