One of New Zealand’s leading commercial law firms has helped raise funds for the Westpac Chopper Appeal through a number of fun activities.
The team at Anthony Harper has come together across the firm’s Auckland and Christchurch offices to raise money for the Westpac Chopper Appeal.
“The brief was simple: have fun, get together and support a worthwhile cause,” said Lisa Jacobs, CEO of Anthony Harper.
In the Auckland office, the firm’s bakers put a kiwi spin on the ‘Great British Bake Off’.
“Each practice area baked their own sausage rolls. While all were delicious, the property team pipped litigation to the post to be crowned winner,” Jacobs said.
The team dressed in ‘Westpac’ red to show their support while the Christchurch office also held a successful raffle, she added.
This is the second time Anthony Harper has raised funds for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.
“Late last year we presented a cheque in Christchurch to the Rescue Helicopter Service,” she said. “We are very pleased to support such an important part of the country's emergency response.”
Jacobs said this need to give back stems from the fact that Anthony Harper’s Christchurch offices have a 150-year old lineage.
“We are very much part of the local community. In fact, Christchurch was only 10 years old when we began practicing. Supporting a service that helps people at their most vulnerable is something we can all get behind.”
As for why Anthony Harper chose the Westpac Rescue Helicopter in particular, Jacobs said it performed a vital lifesaving service across the whole of New Zealand.
“Whether ferrying seriously ill patients from hospitals around the country, emergency rescues and saving lives on our mountains and seas the rescue helicopters operate day and night and sometimes in the most appalling of weather conditions.”
Anthony Harper also puts its focus on other charities. This year, the firm raised money for Shine – the domestic violence charity – and supported their Orange Day. The team dressed in orange, wore orange wigs, baked, held a quiz and played various games, Jacobs said.
“Again both offices came together to support the cause. Giving back is important to us. We are proud of the work we do and the chance to enhance the communities we work in.”
