Law Soc adds Globe Law Online subscription to library

The Law Society of New Zealand has announced a new subscription to Globe Law Online, a practical ebook collection from Globe Law and Business (UK), which members can access on any device, anywhere and anytime, via their registry login details. 

In its news release, the law society shared that the ebook collection encompasses more than 300 titles that seek to support lawyers in terms of their practice, professional development, and the business of law.

The New Zealand Law Society’s library aims to provide legal information on all areas of the country’s law, as well as material from other legal jurisdictions such as Australia, Canada, Singapore, the UK, and the US. 

What’s included in Globe Law Online

According to the update, the new addition to the online library covers: 

  • specialist practice modules spanning the legal areas of banking and finance, company and commercial law, dispute resolution, energy, insolvency, intellectual property (IP) and media, private clients, and others 
  • collections catering to in-house lawyers and barristers 
  • law practice management titles that touch upon firm strategy and self-development 
  • a lawyers’ toolkit on artificial intelligence (AI) 
  • access to Modern Lawyer and International Family Offices Journal 
  • further titles, to be added on a monthly basis 

How to access

In its news release, the law society explained that those interested can check out the new addition by visiting the library databases page, selecting Globe Law Online on the publishers list, logging in using their registry details, and clicking on “Login Globe Law.” 

The update noted that members can verify whether they have successfully accessed the subscription by checking that the law society’s logo is on the top right of their screen. Members with questions can contact the law society via email.

On 2 July 2026, the law society shared provisional figures recording a total of 18,018 lawyers as of 30 June 2026, representing the most lawyers active in New Zealand. Of this milestone total, over 88 percent were barristers and solicitors.
