Each winner of this year's ILANZ Awards received scholarship grants for training and development
The In-House Lawyers Association of New Zealand (ILANZ) has recognised six lawyers in this year’s ILANZ Awards.
The award recognises leadership, excellence in the provision of legal services, and the valuable contribution of in-house lawyers to the profession and the wider community.
The “Artemis Executive Recruitment In-house Innovation Award” went to the Mercury Limited legal team for the conception of an innovation framework that integrates legal training for the wider business. The team received a scholarship package of $5,000.
Pakeeza Rasheed, an associate counsel of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade won the “AUT Law School Community Contribution Award” for her work with community organisations in the country and beyond. She was awarded $4,000, which will go to her charity of choice, and a $1,000 scholarship.
ILANZ recognised Mark Boddington, legal counsel at Scientific Software and Systems Limited, with the “MAS Young In-house Lawyer of the Year Award.” He received a $5,000 scholarship. Highly commended in the category is Monique Esplin, senior solicitor at the Ministry for Culture and Heritage.
The “Buddle Findlay Public Sector In-house Lawyer of the Year Award” went to Patricia Windle, lead manager at the Broadcasting Standards Authority. She received recommendations from the organisation’s chief executive, chair, and her legal team colleagues. She was also given a $5,000 scholarship package.
Marise Winthrop of the Livestock Improvements Corporation won the “Greenwood Roche Private Sector In-house Lawyer of the Year Award,” for her management of her organisation’s legal issues and external providers, as well as growing the legal team. A $5,000 scholarship came with the award.
The “Chapman Tripp In-house Team of the Year Award” went to the Whitireia Community Law Centre team, for their invaluable work providing the most vulnerable in the community with legal support, as well as for their community outreach. The team was also given a $5,000 scholarship package.
