Highlight: Fast Firms of 2023 pioneer digital and tech solutions

NZ Lawyer’s Fastest-Growing Law Firms for 2023 have led digital transformation, have made substantial investments in new technologies, and have pioneered technological solutions for seamless client experiences and for new and compelling ways to deliver legal services.

Convey Law, an online property firm, was one of the first law firms in the country to adopt an online fixed-fee legal service model. It also developed a robust online presence via social media, search engine optimization, and content marketing.

“We differentiate ourselves from competitors by automating all legal workflows, enabling our staff to focus on legal work that delivers the best service to clients on time,” Jay Park, the firm’s founder and principal, told NZ Lawyer.

Park built Honour.law, the firm’s proprietary practice management software system. This platform features legal tools and bespoke features that automate and integrate workflows, including by letting users create legal questionnaires that can automatically generate a quote.

“This is a substantial part of our innovation, and a lot of time has gone into building it,” Park said. “By using these online forms, lawyers can gather important information about clients and their legal needs, providing them with a more personalised and effective legal service.”

Law firms need online marketing if they want to succeed in today’s digital world, Park added.

Norling Law, also named a Fast Firm for this year, has embraced digital transformation and has used technology to automate routine tasks and to explore the development of a private and secure AI platform.

The firm has a social media marketing and advertising strategy, with Facebook and Instagram as its primary channels. Glenn Marvin, the firm’s chief operating officer, also emphasised “how much opportunity there is for education on TikTok.”

Lastly, Base Law has adopted infrastructure and supporting technology to expand its presence in small communities and provincial areas without access to lawyers.
