The new hire is an expert in copyright infringement and defamation
Hudson Gavin Martin (HGM) has beefed up its commercial litigation group with the appointment of a new special counsel.
Caitlin Hadlee has particular expertise in the areas of copyright infringement, trademark disputes, passing off claims, defamation, contractual disputes, negligence, breach of directors’ duties and shareholders disputes. She has handled a number of contentious matters in mediations and arbitrations.
She has appeared before the High Court and the Court of Appeal as well.
Hadlee graduated from the University of Canterbury in 2002. In addition to law, she studied philosophy and French. After receiving her degree, she began her legal career as a solicitor at Bell Gully.
In 2004, she moved to specialist litigation firm LeeSalmonLong to serve as an associate. She remained with the firm for 16 years.
Hadlee’s appointment, HGM said, bolsters the firm’s litigation offering and its overall roster.
“Caitlin’s addition to the litigation team is very exciting, and will bring additional depth to our commercial litigation practice,” litigation lead partner Tim Mahood said.
In April, HGM promoted Sarah-Jane Lawson to special counsel. The firm also elevated Andrew Dentice to principal.
The firm specialises in matters involving technology, media and IP.
