Global firm extends partnership with FinTech body
The partnership between global law firm Hogan Lovells and the non-profit FinTech support organisation Innovate Finance has been extended.

The strategic partnership involves Hogans providing legal services and products for the burgeoning FinTech sector globally. This includes partners from the firm mentoring FinTech firms at any stage of their journey in Hong Kong, Germany and the UK.

Hogan Lovells head of financial institutions sector Rachel Kent says the extension of the deal represents the important role of FinTech in financial services.

"Together with Innovate Finance we have a unique opportunity to collaborate with the innovators, disruptors and forward thinkers as well as the established players in this rapidly expanding sector, and to leverage our combined relationships with industry and policy makers to effect real change that will revolutionise financial services as we know it," Kent says.

Clifford Chance advises on first deal of its kind in 10 years
Clifford Chance has advised WTT Investment Ltd on the first high yield bond by a telecoms player in Hong Kong for 10 years.

The firm advised its client on the refinancing of existing acquisition facilities by issuing a 144A/Reg S high yield bond. It was WTT’s debut international capital markets offering.

The U$670 million senior notes were oversubscribed five-fold as investors from Asia, Europe and the US showed interest.

The Clifford Chance team was led by partner Alex Lloyd along with partner Angela Chan who advised on Hong Kong law matters. Partner Anthony Wang led a separate team to secure a revolving credit facility for WTT.

Allen & Overy bolsters Singapore finance specialist
Singapore law finance specialist Prakash Raja Segaran has joined Allen & Overy as a partner in its Singapore office.

“We are seeing increasing demand for Singapore law capability as borrowers and financiers look to expertise in Singapore as they continue to expand into global markets. The appointment of Prakash is part of our plan to serve the world’s largest companies and banks doing business across multiple jurisdictions,” Philip Bowden, global Banking co-head, explains.

Prakash joins from Shook Lin & Brook after 6 years as a partner and is widely recognised in legal benchmarking publications as a strong practitioner in his field. He is admitted to practice in Singapore.
