Firms announce major promotions

Two firms have announced a series of promotions.

Simpson Grierson and Buddle Findlay have announced a series of promotions.

Four new partners have been appointed across Simpson Grierson’s Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch offices.

Helen Smith has joined the Simpson Grierson partnership from Duncan Cotterill.  Smith is a litigation and dispute resolution specialist.

Matt Conway has been promoted to the firm’s partnership in Wellington in the firm’s local government and environmental group.

Transactional banking and finance expert Stuart Evans has been promoted to partner Auckland.  Evans is experienced in both domestic and international banking and finance transactions and specialises in property and development financing.

Also promoted to the Auckland partnership is Andrew Matthews who has experience in public and private merges and acquisitions, capital raisings and corporate governance.

“We are delighted to welcome Matt, Stuart, Andrew and Helen to the partnership,” said Chairman Kevin Jaffe.

“The appointments show the firm's strength across New Zealand and across a wide variety of business sectors.”

Buddle Findlay has promoted four senior associates across a range of practice areas.

In the Auckland office, Keri Johansson, Jonathan Simons and Rishalat Khan have been promoted.  Johansson specialises in IP, technology and media law; Simons in commercial property and Khan in corporate, commercial and aviation law.  Anna Bloomfield has been appointed in the Wellington office, specialising in civil and commercial litigation and dispute resolution.
