She was the Nelson City Council’s general counsel
Nelson City Council general counsel Fiona McLeod has joined Wynn Williams as a special counsel in its local government, environment and planning group.
She will operate mainly from Whakatū Nelson but will also take on clients in Ōtautahi Christchurch and throughout the country.
“Fiona brings highly sought after experience to the firm and is an excellent addition to our leading local government, environment and planning team. The fact that she has worked in both private practice and within local government allows her a unique insight into both sides of the client relationship”, Wynn Williams managing partner Ash Hill said.
McLeod worked with the Nelson City Council for more than a decade, having started with the unitary authority as a sole counsel. She brings considerable knowledge of environmental and resource management law and has tackled issues involving resource management planning, consenting, appeal and law reform processes.
She also logged associate stints at Pitt & Moore and Anderson Lloyd. She was once a conservancy solicitor acting for the conservation minister in Resource Management Act proceedings.
McLeod was a solicitor at Chapman Tripp, a legal adviser at the Legal Department of Environment Agency UK, a solicitor at Walters Williams & Co, and a law clerk at the Crown Law Office, according to LinkedIn.
