DLA Piper appoints Michelle Morgan as a partner in the firm’s litigation practice

DLA Piper continues the expansion of its litigation practice with the addition of Michelle Morgan – former assistant United States attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and chief of the corruption and civil rights section – as a partner in the firm’s Wilmington office.

With more than 25 years of experience as a litigator, Morgan has practised in multiple jurisdictions, handling both criminal and civil matters in public and private practice.

During her 17 years as an assistant US attorney, Morgan focused her practice on prosecuting public corruption, human trafficking and child exploitation offences, in addition to healthcare fraud, economic crime and matters related to the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. She handled all types of complex white-collar and violent criminal cases from investigation through appeal, including spearheading sex trafficking prosecution efforts, managing dozens of federal prosecutors, and supervising complex, high-profile federal, state and local public corruption and civil rights investigations and prosecutions.

Morgan regularly led complex investigations in coordination with law enforcement officers from the Federal Bureau of Investigation; the Department of Homeland Security; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; and the Drug Enforcement Administration, among many others.

“Michelle brings nationally recognised trial, regulatory and legislative experience that will leverage the firm’s efforts to encourage cross-practice group and office collaboration and growth in the life science, healthcare, IP and financial sectors,” said Loren Brown, DLA Piper’s US vice chairman and chair of the firm’s US disputes practice. “Michelle’s knowledge and skills will be a strong asset to our clients.”
