The tie-up is the latest step in the global firm’s planned expansion of its African footprint

Dentons expands to Uganda through local partnership
Global law firm Dentons is preparing to launch in Uganda through a partnership with Kampala Associated Advocates.

Kampala has 12 partners and 26 lawyers, and specialises in banking and finance, communications, corporate, dispute resolution, energy and infrastructure capabilities, according to The Lawyer. The firm is led by managing partner Dave Mpanga. Kampala has had previous partnerships with Simmons & Simmons and Baker McKenzie.

“With this combination we are truly poised to become one of the leading and fastest-growing firms in Africa,” Dentons global chairman Joe Andrew said. “It’s our goal to be the first truly pan-African law firm, through a blend of full-firm combinations and our well-known network.”

Dentons Africa CEO Noor Kapdi recently revealed the firm’s plans to significantly extend its African footprint over the next two years. Kapdi told The Lawyer that Dentons would focus on East Africa, Southern Africa and West Africa, with Nigeria, Mauritius and Tanzania among the key locations eyed for expansion.
