Chen Palmer Partners has appointed Veronica Cress as special counsel.
The Auckland barrister, who has 20 years’ experience in litigation in New Zealand and the Asia-Pacific region, left DLA Piper New Zealand in October of last year after five years as a partner. She was part of the firm’s insurance litigation team for 10 years, with stints at legacy DLA Phillips Fox in Auckland and DLA Piper Australia and Thailand.
Cress has also handled general civil litigation, including participating in the first personal injury case brought by a smoker against a tobacco company in New Zealand. She has appeared as counsel the High Court and Court of Appeal of New Zealand and the Supreme Court of New South Wales in Australia.
In 1997, she completed her law degree at the University of Waikato with first-class honours and was admitted as a barrister and solicitor in New Zealand. In 2012, she was admitted in New South Wales, Australia.
Cress is Chen Palmer’s third special counsel. The boutique has two partners, two principals, and two senior associates.
