The promotions took effect this week
Chapman Tripp has promoted Isla Doidge, Louise Merrick, Jared Papps, Scarlet Roberts, Findlay Jacob-Sauer (Ngāi Te Rangi), Autumn McNeill and Max Williams to senior associates.
They commenced in their new roles on 1 June. The promotions beef up the firm's offerings in litigation and dispute resolution, corporate and commercial, and construction and major projects.
Doidge works with the litigation and dispute resolution team in Wellington. She focuses on civil litigation and arbitration, tackling disputes involving data analysis for complex claims and matters. She has also handled shareholder claims, trust disputes, Fair Trading Act claims, weathertightness disputes and contractual matters.
Merrick is part of the litigation and dispute resolution team in Christchurch. She concentrates on insurance work, health and safety, and civil and commercial litigation. She represents clients in investigations and prosecutions under the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015, Maritime Transport Act 1994, and Civil Aviation Act 2023 and has appeared before the Court of Appeal, High Court and District Court.
Like Doidge, Papps is a member of the Wellington litigation and dispute resolution team. He has tackled commercial disputes and non-contentious work involving private, public and international law. He has been a sole or senior counsel in the District Court, High Court and Human Rights Review Tribunal.
Roberts also works with the Wellington litigation and dispute resolution team. She is an expert in biosecurity, climate risk, product liability complaints and complex litigation claims; moreover, she has tackled claims involving construction, directors’ duties, fisheries, contractual interpretation and insurance matters.
Jacob-Sauer is part of Chapman Tripp's Te Waka Ture Māori legal group as well as the corporate and commercial team in Auckland. He concentrates on structuring, corporate governance, establishing investment funds, and commercial contracts; he has also advised on M&A and equity capital markets.
McNeill works with the corporate and commercial team in Christchurch. She focuses on M&A, commercial contracting, and corporate governance. In particular, she has tackled joint ventures, shareholder arrangements, securities law, and contracting arrangements.
Williams is a member of the construction and major projects group in Auckland. He has helped clients to navigate the full life cycle of complex development across the infrastructure, energy, healthcare and commercial industries. Moreover, he has handled matters involving NZS and FIDIC standard forms, EPC contracts, supply agreements, operation and maintenance agreements, and consultancy agreements.
