Buddle Findlay welcomes two to partnership

Buddle Findlay’s partnership has grown with two new appointments.

Tom Bennett has joined the firm, while Sarah McEwan has been promoted, in appointments that came into effect at the start of the year.

Bennett made the move from Bell Gully, where he was a partner. He joined the firm’s property team in Auckland, adding expertise in real estate, construction, procurement, and local government.

Advising both public- and private-sector clients, Bennett’s construction experience includes various national and international standard forms, as well as Public Works Act compulsory acquisition, real estate, and overseas investment, the firm said.

McEwan has been elevated from senior associate after joining the firm in 2017 from ANZ, where she was a director. She is part of the firm’s corporate and commercial team in Auckland and specialises in M&A, capital markets, and securities transactions.

The new partner is also a former senior associate at Bell Gully. She also has international experience, having been an associate in Magic Circle firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in London for more than two years.
