Barrister appointed as Wellington public defender

Brett Crowley has been named Wellington public defender.

The criminal defence expert has more than 20 years’ experience in trial and appellate work, the New Zealand Law Society said. He practised from Quay Legal chambers, dedicated to criminal defence work.

Crowley earned his law degree from Victoria University in 1990 and was admitted as a barrister and solicitor in 1992. The Law Society said that he has been a litigation skills instructor with the Institute of Professional Legal Studies. He is also a youth advocate.
