Ray Pagliano, Senior corporate counsel, Optus
In-house Leaders 2019

Pagliano understands the importance of quick turnarounds for a business such as Optus which is constantly working on efficiently meeting its commercial goals. Because of this, his impact within the organisation has been invaluable. He has significantly contributed business revenue by being pragmatic, using his 20 years of experience as a lawyer to close out deals in a timely fashion,  and by having a strong understanding of the technology and commercial drivers behind the services offered by Optus. One of his shining moments in the past year includes negotiating the contract for the Commonwealth Games (GOLDOC). He assisted in the preparation for the successful Games RFT response and conducted legal negotiations over a 12-month period: this involved drafting and negotiating the sponsorship agreement between Optus and GOLDOC and supervising and drafting 75 variations to the original GOLDOC contract.
