Hannon to join Common Law Division, while Craig will be in Commercial Court
In a news release, the Supreme Court of Victoria congratulated Lisa Hannon and Robert Craig on their appointments as judges in the Common Law Division and the Commercial Court, respectively, effective 12 August 2025.
The Judicial College of Victoria also expressed its warm congratulations to Justice Hannon and Justice Craig on their recent judicial appointments.
In its news release, the college shared that the court planned to conduct a welcome ceremony for Justice Craig in the Banco Court, 210 William Street, Melbourne, at 9:15 a.m. on Wednesday, 20 August 2025.

Hannon has focused on public infrastructure, private property rights, and land matters in the course of her legal career spanning almost three decades.
Her areas of practice have also included banking and finance, bankruptcy and insolvency, commercial law, consumer law, contracts, corporations, disciplinary tribunals, environment and planning law, guarantees, product liability, professional negligence, schemes of arrangement, and torts.
Hannon joined the Victorian bar in 2001 and took silk in 2020. She has been vice president of the Victorian Bar Association and a nationally accredited mediator.
She sat on the Australian Football League (AFL) Tribunal counsel panel and appeared in multiple AFL and AFL Women (AFLW) hearings and appeals. She holds an LLB.
Craig handled trial and appeal work in class actions, insolvency, and construction and commercial litigation within his 20-year career as a barrister.
His practice areas include administrative law, alternative dispute resolution, banking and finance, bankruptcy, consumer law, corporations, energy and infrastructure, environment, equitable relief and trusts, franchising, and guarantees.
Craig’s work also covers insurance, international arbitration, land valuation, landlord and tenant matters, mining law, partnership, probate and wills, product liability, professional negligence, schemes of arrangement, securities, and torts.
He signed the Victorian bar roll in 2006 and took silk in 2019. He was an associate to Justice Elizabeth Hollingworth, who retired last year.
He has acted in the Royal Commission into Misconduct in the Banking, Superannuation and Financial Services Industry and the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide. He has LLM and LLB degrees.
