Citation Group, a provider of workplace compliance solutions, has announced the promotion of Lisa Qiu, who focuses on employment law and business migration, to a partner in Citation Legal, the company’s legal team, as of 1 July 2025. 

Based in the Australian employment law firm’s Sydney office, Qiu represents clients across the country, according to a press release from Citation Group. 

She came aboard Citation Group’s legal team in April 2024 from international law firm Norton Rose Fulbright, where she joined as a senior associate in July 2022, according to her LinkedIn page. Her legal practice also included stints at Coleman Greig Lawyers from April 2015 to May 2022 and William Roberts Lawyers from December 2012 to November 2014. 

“I am really excited to be taking on this new role and I’m looking forward to helping with the growth and strategy of our legal team and Citation Group as a whole,” Qiu said in the press release. “I’m a believer in building strong and genuine connections with clients, helping us to deliver the highest quality services tailored to their individual needs.”

Qiu’s profile on Citation Group’s website provided more information on her professional and educational background. 

Practising in employment law since 2015, she also has significant experience in business migration. With this dual focus, she aims to provide clients with a unique perspective and niche advice tackling employment and migration issues alike. 

Qiu also practises in the areas of wage and workplace compliance reviews, confidentiality breaches, restraints of trade, and workplace investigations, including sexual harassment and discrimination claims. Her fields of experience also include: 

  • unfair dismissal 
  • adverse action 
  • bullying 
  • underpayments 
  • drafting employment contracts and policies 

She also has experience handling matters before the Fair Work Commission, Federal Circuit Court and Family Court of Australia, Fair Work Ombudsman, and Australian Human Rights Commission. 

With a commitment to ensuring that everybody can access the law, Qiu has been a non-executive director at disability support services organisation Thorndale Foundation, a senior manager at Diverse Women in Law, and a mentor for Citation Legal’s junior lawyers. 

She has taught anti-discrimination law at Western Sydney University. She earned her bachelor of laws and bachelor’s degree in international and global studies from the University of Sydney and her master’s degree in Australian migration law and practice from Griffith University.
