Sparke Helmore welcomes corporate and commercial partner back to the fold

Sparke Helmore has welcomed Scott Puxty back to the firm as a new partner in its corporate and commercial team in Newcastle.

Puxty returns to the firm where he started his legal career as a law clerk in the early 1990s. He has experience working in the SME, not-for-profit, and aged care sectors.

He has tackled matters involving corporate advisory, risk management, governance, commercial disputes, and M&A. He also has experience in alternative dispute resolution and has helped to resolve internal organisational disputes.

Puxty was previously a senior partner at Cantle Carmichael Legal, which ceased operations on 1 November. Sparke Helmore corporate and commercial national practice group leader Julien Castaldi said that Puxty’s appointment would bolster the firm’s business “in the Hunter Valley and across regional NSW, enhancing our growth pathway.”

In addition to his legal practice, Puxty is on the board of Hunter Primary Care and is diocesan solicitor for the Anglican Diocese of Newcastle.
