Workplace relations expert joins boutique
An employment law boutique firm has added a workplace relations expert to its team.

David Bates has joined Harmers Workplace Lawyers as a team leader and consultant. Bates has spent the past six years as managing director of Workforce Guardian, which he has built into one of Australia’s leading online, subscription-based HR services company.

Bates said he is proud of his history of providing strategic, practical, and plain-English advice to employers. He looks forward to continue this work at Harmers.

“I also look forward to assisting employees who, all too often, still find themselves struggling with issues of bullying, harassment, and unfair dismissal issues in Australian workplaces,” Bates said.

In addition to his former duties as a top executive, Bates also has a monthly employment law segment on the Sky Business News “Switzer” program. He is also frequently interviewed by the media and tapped as a keynote speaker and workplace trainer.

Harmers said the appointment comes as its employer advisory practice has experienced a strong period of growth, with an increase in work for corporate clients in large-scale and complex employment, WHS, and IR litigation over the last 12 months.
